From the age I could walk I have always been completely obsessed
with fish and water! My Grandad took me fishing for the first time at
the age of four and I have never looked back. My angling evolved from
‘pleasure fishing’ for anything that would take my bait, to competitive
match fishing as a young teenager, then onto specimen carp fishing in my final years of school.
I left my home town of Banbury at the age of eighteen and moved down to
Hampshire to study Fisheries Management at the notorious Sparsholt
College, where I left with a level 3 National Diploma in Fisheries
I now work full time for ‘For Life
Experiences’ as their lead angling coach and educational course tutor. I
thoroughly enjoy my job and feel a great sense of reward for the work I do, helping to bring new anglers into the sport.
I also compete in various competition carp matches such as the
BCAC’s, with my fishing partner Graham Mabey. We have been competeing together now for just over two years and our name as a competition pairing is starting to grow. We have won various prestigous titles such as: Media Carp Masters 2011, Carpin-4-Cancer 2011, Many BCAC Qualifiers, Charity Carping Pairs 2012 Feb Qualifier plus much, much more.
I also fish as part of the
Gardner Tackle sponsored angler team, and hope that both myself and Graham
can work together with Gardner, using and abusing their tackle, and flying
the flag at competitions and in writing for them for the foreseeable
I am also sponsored by Kent Particles and Free Spirit Fishing. Without the continual support of these companies I would not be where I am today, so must thank them for all their help.
I fish a variety of waters from small intimate ponds to large windswept gravel pits, and my current target water is a 400 acre gravel pit in Reading. The stock of this lake is resonably unknown and I hope to cradle some of the jewels I have seen evidence of along the way.
